A FESTIVE concert at St Mary’s Church in Whitchurch raised £2,500.
More than 100 people attended the event, which featured soloist Bethan Smith, Tal Kalati (clarinet), Steve Sizeland (tuba) and pupils from Whitchurch pre-school and primary school.
They were accompanied by a 30-piece brass band from the Ferryboat pub in High Street, which organised the concert for the fourth year running.
The pre-school children took part in an opening procession with a donkey provided by Hardwick Stables and then performed a short Nativity scene.
A choir from the primary school sang Christmas Calypso, Little Drummer Boy, Every Christmas and Mad World by Gary Jules.
The proceeds will be divided between the two schools and the church.
Ferryboat landlord Graham Dednum said: “The concert was well-attended and it’s a great way of bringing the community together.”
