89th Reading Scouts
Published 12/12/16

THE 89th Reading scouts are once again providing the highly valued Christmas post service for the delivery of Christmas cards to Caversham, Caversham Heights, Emmer Green and Caversham Park Village.

This is a great opportunity to save money — at 30p per card it is half the price of a stamp — and deliver your local Christmas cards.

At the same time this service supports the activities of the beavers, cubs, scouts and explorers of the 89th scout group, which is based in Kiln Road, Emmer Green.

Postboxes will be situated at a number of locations in the area, including Caversham library, McColl’s newsagents in Emmer Green, Balmore Park and Emmer Green surgeries, Woodcote Way News, Uplands Road post office, St Andrew’s, St Barnabas’, St John’s, St Peter’s and Gosbrook Road Methodist churches, Co-Op stores and a number of local primary schools.

You can post your cards in these locations from now until the last posting day on Thursday, December 15. All cards will be delivered in time for Christmas.

The 89th Reading scouts have been running the Christmas post for more than 30 years, raising funds for the scout group and, most importantly, providing a great service to the local community.

We don’t take parcels, only cards, and we only deliver to houses in the local communities. We don’t go south of Caversham or Reading bridges and we don’t cover Kidmore End or Tokers Green.

The service is really valued by the local community, especially the older residents, and all the post is sorted and hand delivered by the beavers, cubs, scouts and explorers of the 89th scout group.
