Eighteen homeless people will enjoy Christmas day at a centre run by the charity Crisis at Christmas, thanks to the efforts of Fiona Rollason and Eirlys Hughes, who live in Binfield Heath.
The pair organised a pop-up stall outside the Village Stores last Saturday morning, selling Christmas decorations and novelties donated by villagers. In just a few hours, local residents and shoppers had contributed £391 - far exceeding Fiona’s target of 10 dinners.
“We only thought of this a couple of days earlier,” she said. “People have been very generous with their gifts and we’d like to thank everyone who supported us by buying them too.”
Just £21.62 buys a place for someone at Crisis for Christmas, with three full meals, clothing and care for a day, together with life-changing advice and help.
