FOUR legendary blues artists are joining forces to play a special one-off show at the Crooked Billet pub in Stoke Row later this month.
The supergroup features Gary Fletcher, Alan Glen, Tom Leary and Hughie Flint.
Billed as the Gary Fletcher Band featuring Alan Glen, they are performing at the Newlands Lane venue on Tuesday, January 17, as part of its regular series of music nights.
Gary Fletcher will be on lead guitar and vocals. He has toured and recorded with Fleetwood Mac’s Peter Green and is a full-time member of the Blues Band.
Alan Glen on harmonica is part of Eric Clapton’s touring band and has recorded and toured with Clapton, The Yardbirds, Gary Moore and Nine Below Zero.
Tom Leary will be on slide guitar and violin, having toured and recorded with ELO, Steve Gibbon’s band, Feast of Fiddles, and Lindisfarne.
Hughie Flint is a legendary drummer, having recorded and toured with Eric Clapton, John Mayall, Ronnie Lane and the Blues Band.
Famously recorded on the “Beano” album with Clapton, aka John Mayall’s 1966 release Blues Breakers with Eric Clapton, Hughie was part of Seventies band McGuinness Flint whose hits included Malt and Barley Blues.
Crooked Billet proprietor Paul Clerehugh said: “The evening promises to be very special, particularly in the intimacy of this tiny Stoke Row venue — a supergroup starring the ‘Cream’ of British blues musicians.
“The Crooked Billet attracts some of the very best bands and musicians, with previous performances from the likes of Gary Moore, Chaz and Dave, Geno Washington, Jon Lord, George Harrison and Joe Brown, to name a few. Last week Kasabian drummer Ian Matthews made a surprise appearance with a special supergroup.”
The pub’s full regular menu will be available on the night and a £15 music cover charge will apply. For tickets and table reservations, call (01491) 681048.
